Shanghai-based artist Danny Kuo created the StairCASE, a bookcase where the shelves slide out to become a stairwell. I think this is sick, I need this for DVD's.
I'm really liking the dive watches that have been coming out recently. I think the use of color and design have made these fun yet elegant. Check out the lines from brands like Nixon, Welder, & U-Boat. If you have money to burn check out Volna, Corum, & Porsche Design.
Google was in London this morning showing off it's new Android smartphone platform. I am personally super excited for the release of Android, I will be very interested to see what developers will be able to come up with for this unit. That being said I'm not to thrilled with the design of the HTC "Dream". In the leaked videos the unit looked cheap and cumbersome, however the one shown today in London looked much more elegant. Hopefully, this will be the release unit.
Despite the current economic landscape Damien Hirst had a record breaking day. Hirst had put up for auction 223 works and came away with a grand total of $127.2 million. With this sale Hirst made headlines by circumventing the traditional gallery method and proceeding straight to auction. The auction was held by Sotheby’s. I'm still not sure what I feel about Hirst's work, but he sure seems to know how to sell it.
